The New Orleans Saints reiterated their support behind Derek Carr this offseason after what was an extremely disappointing 2024 season that saw Carr injured and the Saints miss the playoffs.
Unfortunately, brutal news broke on Carr’s status for the 2025 campaign last week.
“The #Saints suddenly have a major QB question: Starter Derek Carr is now dealing with a shoulder injury that threatens his availability for this season, sources say. Carr is weighing options, including the possibility of surgery,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on April 11.
While this is a brutal development for Carr, it may have created an interesting opportunity for another veteran quarterback, especially as one franchise loses its patience with him.
“The #Steelers are reportedly losing PATIENCE with Aaron Rodgers. The #Saints could be a option now with Derek Carr INJURY,” reported NFL Rumors.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Yeah dude I’m glad the giants just decided on Russ lol,” one Giants fan wrote on Twitter, thankful to not have to deal with the drama that always seems to surround Rodgers.
“I’m not a Steelers or Saints fan. Aaron Rodgers should probably retire. But I have a theory. I think if he is going to sign with them he will after the draft. I think he doesn’t want to step into a Kirk Cousins type situation. Get signed, watch them draft a QB & get benched!” one fan added.
“Why would the Saints want Rodgers? They suck worse than the Steelers. Sometimes you’ve got to hit rock bottom before you look up,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Rodgers lands with one of the franchises or decides to retire.
