Taylor Swift did not receive a warm welcome from fans in attendance at Super Bowl LIX as she was loudly booed by the crowd. But Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was not happy about that.
During an appearance on “The Howard Stern Show” on Wednesday, Barkley was asked whether or not he thought that Kelce and Swift would get married. Barkley did not know the answer to that question, but he quickly shifted the conversation to the cold reception Taylor Swift received at the Super Bowl.
“I have no idea,” Barkley said according to NBC News. “I will say this though: They showed her on the Jumbotron. She got booed. I don’t get it. I don’t get why she was getting hate there.”
“I didn’t like that either,” Howard Stern.
Barkley reminded fans that Taylor’s influence has helped expand the game.
“Yeah, she’s just there supporting her significant other, and she’s made the game bigger,” Barkley said.
“We’re all about, ‘How can we expand the game and make it more international?’ And we’re traveling to Brazil. We’re traveling to Mexico. Her being a part of this is only helping us. So I don’t get the dislike that she’s given.”
Swift is widely seen as a major reason why the league was able to expand its salary cap radically during the offseason, so her impact has been felt by the players as well, allowing them to sign bigger contracts.
Fans may not like it, but the reality is that Swift has been good for the NFL.
