Over the past few months, the relationship between the New York Giants and star running back Saquon Barkley has not been great, and it appears that it has not gotten all that better in recent days and weeks.

The two sides continue to try to agree to a long-term contract and Saquon Barkley has not ruled out potentially sitting out the entire 2023 season if they do not reach an agreement. And unfortunately for Giants fans, it does not look like the two sides have made much progress in those talks as the deadline nears.

“As we near the deadline for the Giants and Saquon Barkley to strike a long-term deal, I’m told the two sides remain at a stalemate. The deadline to strike a long-term deal is Monday 4pm,” Dianna Russini of ESPN reported on Wednesday morning.

This is a pretty brutal update for the New York Giants as it is looking less and less likely that Barkley will be with the team for the long-term future.

We’ll have to see whether or not Barkley and the Giants can make some headway on these contract talks before the deadline on Monday, but it’s not exactly looking likely as of now.
