During last week’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley suffered a high ankle sprain that many were concerned would keep him out of the starting lineup for multiple weeks, but there’s a chance Barkley could actually return to the field this week, and the Giants made a pretty significant announcement in that regard this week.

During his press conference on Thursday, New York Giants head coach announced that running back Saquon Barkley would return to practice and would do individual drills to get an idea of his physical fitness leading up to this week’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

“Brian Daboll says ‘everybody will practice.’ That includes RB Saquon Barkley. He will do sone individual drills, move around,” Jordan Raanan of ESPN wrote in a post on X, the social media website formerly known as Twitter.

“Making progress. … see where he’s at,” Daboll said of Barkley’s status.

It’s a pretty big announcement regarding the most significant player on the team’s offense, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.

We’ll have to see whether or not Barkley will be able to play on Monday night.
