The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the most impressive stories in the NFL this season. After narrowly missing the playoffs a year ago, Seattle has responded in a major way. The Hawks not only fended off the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers to bring home the division title, but in doing so, managed to secure the number one overall seed in the NFC.
The first seed came with a bye week that was meant to ensure the Seahawks would be healthy and well rested heading into the Divisional round. Unfortunately for Seattle, the opposite has occurred.
Starting quarterback Sam Darnold popped up on Thursday’s injury report after being diagnosed with an oblique injury.
“The Seahawks list QB Sam Darnold as questionable for their playoff game Saturday vs. the 49ers due to an oblique injury,” reported ESPN’s Brady Henderson on Thursday.
Now, head coach Mike Macdonald is speaking on the development and where he expects things to go from here.
“Mike Macdonald says they’re “really optimistic (Sam Darnold) is going to be able to play.” Mike says there’s a possibility the injury limits Sam physically, but also says Sam is confident he’ll be able to operate normally,” reported Michael-Shawn Dugar on Friday.

It’s brutal timing for the Seahawks in what’s been the franchise’s best season since the Legion of Boom days. Darnold will certainly give it his all. It’ll be interesting to see what that looks like.
