The Seattle Seahawks landed one of last season’s biggest surprise success stories when veteran quarterback Sam Darnold signed with the team. Darnold had a resurgent season with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024.
However, Darnold struggled in the other stops of his career, and it looks like the Vikings want some insurance in case last season was an aberration.
“Sources: The #Seahawks are signing veteran QB Drew Lock, bringing him back to Seattle for a second stint. He will backup Sam Darnold,” reported FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“If yall think this is a horrible pick up then yall dont pay attention at all. When geno went down lock didnt fold under pressure. When geno went down this year SAM FOLDED FIRST PLAY. Rather have lock at the qb2 spot,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I’m surprised he didn’t sign with the Steelers since Wilson just left,” another person added.
“Once this guy just gets a consistent shot he’ll make a lot of people look really silly,” wrote someone else.
“People thought he was a starter yet has signed to be the backup to Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Lock gets another crack at starting in the league.
