Following the conclusion of the 2023 NFL season, there was quite a lot of drama surrounding Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay as there were rumors that he would consider retiring or leaving the team. But he ultimately decided to stay, and it looks like that was a long-term commitment.
During a press conference on Friday morning, Sean McVay revealed that he was committed to staying with the Rams “for years to come.”
“You want to make sure you’re making a decision … for years to come,” McVay said in a video conference on Friday morning according to Los Angeles Rams reporter Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic. “I’m committed to not having this become ‘a story’ every year. I don’t take that lightly.”
Sean McVay says this AM that his decision to return in 2023 was not just about 2023. “You want to make sure you’re making a decision … for years to come. I’m committed to not having this become ‘a story’ every year. I don’t take that lightly.”

It’s a major announcement for McVay and the Ram that adds a little stability to the team for the foreseeable future, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

If Sean is committed to the organization long-term, then the decisions they’ve been making this offseason make a lot more sense. https://t.co/SWY4yeYHKt

I don’t mean to be extra but Sean McVay is the greatest man to ever walk this planet https://t.co/Xw4Dv8tZED

Which is what I suspected. Sounds to me McVay wants a reshaped team where he can build a foundation for sustained success. https://t.co/aBEiLiqpyd

It’s certainly good news for the Rams, but it’s clear the team has quite a lot of rebuilding to do in the coming years. But it sounds like they’ll have their head coach committed to leading the process for as long as it takes.
