As former Saints head coach Sean Payton continues to interview for various NFL jobs, one NFL Insider thinks that Payton may reverse course again and decide to sit out next year too.
Albert Breer appeared on “The Day Patrick Show” Friday and said that Payton could change his mind again and decide to sit out one more year.
“I sort of think he’s going to go back into TV. I think this is sort of a day-to-day thing with him,” Breer said. “I know two things that are really important to him are geography and quarterback. I think staying close to Los Angeles would have been ideal for him,” he said.
“Arizona and Denver, can he win there? You look at the quarterback contracts in those two places … those contracts sort of lock those guys into those franchises for the next few years. Sean Payton, at his age, might only have one more shot at this. Does he want to hitch his future to Russell Wilson in Denver? Does he want to hitch his future to Kyler Murray in Arizona? I’m not sure that he does.”

Breer is correct, neither franchise has stability at quarterback and that may be a determing factor in whether or not Payton may accept a job with either team.
But if he had to make a choice between Denver and Arizona, the Broncos may be a better fit for him, although the Carolina Panthers are in a position to draft another quarterback if they wish in April, which may be the one thing they and the Houston Texans have to persuade him to come there.
