The Denver Broncos were the most recent NFL franchise to go up for sale, selling for a record $4.65 billion last month. And according to Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, the Seattle Seahawks could be the next team to hit the market, and that could happen soon.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Irsay revealed that he believes the Seahawks will be for sale by about the year 2024 – just a couple of years.

“There’s going to be a few,” Irsay said in an interview on Bloomberg’s ‘Business of Sports’ show. “Seattle — with Paul Allen my friend unfortunately passing away and that team is in a trust — is going to become available I’d imagine in the 2024 range.”

While the team will be for sale and it will undoubtedly generate plenty of interest, Irsay acknowledges that the skyrocketing value of NFL franchises could make it difficult to find a buyer.

“I know where franchise values are going,” Irsay said. “And one thing we do know is there’s a high interest out there for people that fell short of the Broncos. There’s some really great people that are capable but the problem now is finding people that have the net worth that can actually buy a team. It’s very difficult.”

But one way or another, it sounds like the Seahawks will have new ownership sooner than later.
