The Seattle Seahawks are going to look very different this season from what they did a year ago. Sam Darnold is replacing quarterback Geno Smith, and Smith’s top target, DK Metcalf, has been replaced by Cooper Kupp.
Kupp has already had a huge impact on the team, according to his new teammates and head coach.
“I’m happy he’s on our team,” said head coach Mike Macdonald. “I just couldn’t be happier to have him as a Seahawk. All the things he does on the field, the attention to detail, the work ethic, the attitude, the enthusiasm, just as a leader of your program too.”
Wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba also had high praise for Kupp.
“He brings a next-level mindset. I’m super excited to be with him in that receiver room. Another stellar receiver, great receiver, and I’m just blessed to be in the room with him.”
However, another offensive star who the Seahawks are looking for to leave his mark is running back Kenneth Walker, who missed six games last year due to injury. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak spoke about the importance of getting Walker involved.
“I’ve seen the guy catch the ball well out of the backfield, which I think is really important for our backs that we utilize them. Obviously, whatever we can do to get him touches, throwing him routes out of the backfield, throwing him screens, get the ball in their hands…looking forward to him in this scheme.”
It’ll be interesting to see how the new-look Seahawks do this season.
