The Seattle Seahawks once had one of the most feared defenses in NFL history, which helped them win the Super Bowl in 2014. No players from that team are on the current Seahawks roster, but the organization made a shocking move on Tuesday to bring back a key player on the vaunted “Legion of Boom” defense.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Seahawks are signing former first-round pick Bruce Irvin to their practice squad.

Irvin played a big role in the Seahawks’ past success, starting at defensive end for the organization from 2012-2015 and then again briefly in 2020.
His last appearance in the NFL came last season with the Chicago Bears, where he appeared in six games for the organization.
Many thought that Irvin may have played his last snap in the NFL, but it appears that he may now play a veteran role for the organization that drafted him back in 2012.
Fans took to social media to express their excitement for the reunion between Irvin and the Seahawks.

It’s unclear exactly how big of a role Irvin will play for Seattle, but at the very least he could be a great locker-room presence who has valuable experience in the NFL.
At 34 years old, he is very clearly not the player that he once was in the NFL, but it is certainly a very cool story for Seattle to bring back a key member of the “Legion of Boom” defense.
