Shedeur Sanders may not have had the best rookie season, but it was good enough for him to have what might feel like an unreasonable amount of confidence in himself moving forward.

In his first season, Sanders appeared in eight games, throwing for 1,400 yards, recording seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions, and completing 56.6 percent of his passes.

Those figures might not jump off the page for a starting quarterback, yet Sanders felt his rookie-year performance was strong enough to have a lot of confidence moving forward.

In fact, Sanders said the season showed him that he has what it takes to dominate at the NFL level.

“You can see it. It’s kind of like mastering how to get to that place all the time,” Sanders said during a recent interview on Up & Adams via Pro Football Talk. “You have flashes. That’s the most thing I appreciate about this year is that I proved to myself, I’m able to dominate the league. But I’m able to take completions, I’m able to put all of that together, and definitely in games, we have flashes, but I know I’m capable of doing that.”

Still, Sanders acknowledged there’s work to be done when it comes to sustaining that level of play.

“Now, to do it on a consistent basis, that’s what the goal is. But for me in this past season, that’s what proved to myself. No matter what happened, no matter anything that transpired, you are able to go out there and compete,” Sanders said.

Obviously, it’s some insane confidence for a player to think he’s capable of dominating the league after throwing more touchdowns than interceptions his first year, and the news led to a lot of reactions on social media.

“Why say things that are blatantly not true?” one fan wrote in a post on X.

“I respect his confidence, easier said than done to back yourself and continue to talk Do hope he sticks, if that’s starter or backup either is cool Don’t love the media circus around him but I like him,” someone else added.

“He didn’t and that’s why no one cares or is going to watch the pro bowl Shedeur and Flacco shouldn’t have been invited. It use to be the best of the best and now it just a popularity contest and now anyone can play in it. The league should be embarrassed for this trash,” another fan added.

“Dominating? Self awareness is not a strength of the Sanders family,” someone else said.

“No thanks just this whole pretend act 30th or 31st in every metric you can measure,” another fan wrote.

He’s clearly convinced himself of his potential. The next step will be proving it to everyone else.
