The New York Giants are officially in the post-Daniel Jones era after releasing him last season. Earlier this offseason, the Giants shocked the NFL world by agreeing to terms with veteran quarterback Russell Wilson.
While Wilson is a proven starter and has a Super Bowl championship to his name, he is undeniably at the back end of his career. It would seem that this isn’t wasted on the Giants, as they’re getting special access to one prospect’s final workout, according to one prominent league insider.
“ESPN Sources: Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders will hold one last private workout Thursday in Boulder, Colorado, for a contingent of officials from the New York Giants. Some final intrigue leading into next week’s NFL Draft in Green Bay,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Seeing this in conjunction with Abdul Carter taking a visit with the 4th team (Pats) is making me a little nervous,” one Giants fan wrote on Twitter.
“The Giants always planned to have a private workout with Shedeur Sanders. The private workout is a vital part of their quarterback evaluation process. Can’t see the Giants drafting a QB that didn’t have a workout with coach Brian Daboll,” added ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.
“Football Gods I ask for nothing more than 2 to go #3. I will never come to you again. In Brady’s name,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see which franchise gets their hands on the former Colorado Buffaloes standout.
