Country music legend Garth Brooks recently performed at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions. Brooks wore a Barry Sanders jersey for the occasion, and that certainly makes sense. After all, Sanders is the most popular Lions player of all-time, and the running back was one of the most incredible athletes to watch in sports over the last 25-30 years.

But that would be news to many people on social media that got angry when a photo surfaced of Brooks wearing a “Sanders 20” jersey, thinking it was Brooks showing support for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

Update: On Friday morning, Barry Sanders tweeted, “Hey @garthbrooks, want to be my VP? #Number20for2020”

Garth Brooks responded: “Hey @BarrySanders I would run any race with you! #Number20for2020 HA!!!”
