The Steelers have had one of the busiest off-seasons in the league. The Steelers made multiple blockbuster trades, made star pass rusher T.J. Watt the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, and signed four-time veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers, who is entering his year-41 season, has seen everything the league has to offer, making a potential preseason appearance at his age somewhat of an unnecessary injury risk.
However, Rodgers is saying that he doesn’t care whether or not Tomlin decides to play him in the team’s first preseason game.
“Steelers Aaron Rodgers said he doesn’t care whether he plays in the preseason or not and that he’ll let Mike Tomlin make that call. He did say he feels that joint practices, like the Steelers have next week, are more valuable,” reported Alan Saunders.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“He doesn’t need it as much as his teammates need it to get reps w him. I expect a little clunkliness in first couple weeks as they gel. Doesn’t mean losses but I see fits and starts. Lots of field goals,” someone else added.
“Curious why they have not brought in another camp arm yet, with Howard the Duck out 3 weeks Would like to see them bring in Ian Book or even Wentz,” another fan added.
“He makes a valid point about the joint practices. Pre season games are increasingly becoming irrelevant,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Rodgers appears at all in the preseason.
