The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to get out of the cycle of mediocrity they’ve been trapped in for the better part of the last decade. For most of the season, things looked like this would be the season to end their playoff win drought.
Unfortunately, the play of veteran quarterback Russell Wilson fell off in the final weeks of the season, coinciding with a five-game losing streak to close things out for the Steelers, capped off by a loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card round.
“Art Rooney II just spoke to a dozen of us. He really harped on finding a quarterback,” reported the Pat McAfee Show’s Mark Kaboly on Monday.
“Said that he would like to have either Russell Wilson or Justin Fields back but No. 1 on the list is fixing the QB room.”

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Am I in the minority that believes that while yes, the QB situation is imperfect, like it is for 27 other NFL teams, it’s definitely not the only problem, nor the worst problem for the Steelers. If you somehow get a great QB, you get the same Steelers teams of 2014-2018. They didn’t win a bunch of playoff games either,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Completely ignoring all the losing in the post season and missing the postseason Tomlin did with Ben? Got it, nice. Lots to look forward to,” one fan added.
“The Steelers are the definition of insanity right now and it’s obvious who the insane ring leader is,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Steelers can get things turned around before head coach Mike Tomlin finds himself out of a job.
