The Pittsburgh Steelers are a team with a lot of question marks and not a lot of answers. Star pass rusher T.J. Watt made an ominous Instagram post in which he held up dueces to the city of Pittsburgh in the wake of the team still not having awarded him a contract extension.
If that weren’t enough, the Steelers still don’t know who their starting quarterback will be next season following Justin Fields’s departure to the New York Jets and Russell Wilson landing with the New York Giants.
The Steelers have been linked to veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers throughout the offseason, who is ironically the Jets’ starting quarterback from last season, but a deal still doesn’t appear imminent.
It seems as if the lack of progress this offseason has not gone unnoticed by the players inside of the Steelers locker room, per a report from one prominent league insider.
“From everything I’ve been told, is not solely to Cam Heyward. There are other people, certainly in the organization, the locker room, who are just going like, ‘What are we doing? We’re back for offseason workouts in 10 days. We’re coming up on the draft. What is the plan?'” reported NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Fans reacted to Pelissero’s report on social media.
“Art needs to step down. Tomlin needs to go. Everything is stale with the Steelers,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I’m guessing they’re going to draft a qb and probably have a handshake deal with Rodgers. If not they’re one of the worst organizations right now,” one fan added.
“So players who haven’t won a damn thing are complaining, when they should be taking long hard looks in the mirror asking themselves what can they do to improve themselves,” added someone else.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Steelers respond to the dissent inside the building.
