One of the hotter discussions in the NFL right now is the future of Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers, a future Hall of Famer, may not be long for Green Bay anymore. His up-in-the-air status has many wondering if he’s going to be traded or leave football entirely. An idea that’s floated around sounds eerily familiar to Green Bay Packers fans: trading Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith kind of likes the idea a whole lot.

Smith went on First Take on Wednesday and made a bold, bold declaration. Not that that’s in any way shape or form surprising, but nevertheless, Stephen A. spoke about the possibility of the Packers QB in New York. He shot right for the moon in doing so.

“The fact of the matter is this. Let me say it plain, if Aaron Rodgers went to the Jets, they could win it all. They could win it all,” Stephen A. declared. “If Aaron Rodgers, with that defense, if he went to the New York Jets. Aaron Rodgers in the AFC against Mahomes, against Burrow, against Josh Allen, against Tua Tagovailoa. I’m telling you right now, Jets got a chance now! I ain’t saying that I’d pick ’em – they got a chance!” Smith continued.

Smith said they lamented one thing about the Jets all year long: The quarterback position. Getting Rodgers would obviously be a massive upgrade over Mike White or the oft-criticized Zach Wilson. This much can’t be argued.
