There is a lot of civil and political unrest at the moment around the presence of ICE in neighborhoods and communities. It’s been a scary first year for many in Trump’s second term back in office, and immigrant and their families are particularly vulnerable at the moment.
However, the NFL made the move to tab Bad Bunny, whose first language is Spanish, in which he performs most of his songs, as this year’s headliner for the Super Bowl halftime show.
“Bad Bunny represents the global energy and cultural vibrancy that define today’s music scene. As one of the most influential and streamed artists in the world, his unique ability to bridge genres, languages, and audiences makes him an exciting and natural choice to take the Super Bowl halftime stage,” said Jon Baker, the SVP of Global Event Production for the NFL.
“We know his dynamic performances, creative vision, and deep connection with fans will deliver the kind of unforgettable experience we’ve come to expect from this iconic cultural moment.”
It’s since been reported that Bad Bunny plans to wear a dress during his halftime show to “honor queer icons.” In response, some of the MAGA coalition are planning to boycott the Super Bowl.
As if the Super Bowl halftime show couldn’t get any worse, Bad Bunny is planning on wearing a dress to “honor queers” 🤦🏼♂️
If you weren’t planning already, you should boycott the halftime show.

Fans reacted to the plans on social media.
“Tell me you know nothing about Bad Bunny without saying it. no one is forcing you to watch. go to church that day since it bothers you that much,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“The NFL is paid in advance for the rights to show the Super Bowl and they make their performer pay for the appearance. Your boycott does literally nothing, ” someone else added.
“Agreed. I’d cancel my tickets, flights and hotel reservations. What’s more, I will not watch the game. [Expletive] the NFL and the advertisers,” one person in favor of a boycott added.
Any bigots are free to do as they like, same as anyone else, but a boycott of the Super Bowl will almost certainly have no effect on the league’s bottom line.
