The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking for their future quarterback after the departure of all-time great Tom Brady following the 2022 season. And while the team appears set to start either Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask this upcoming season, they now have another quarterback on the roster with playoff experience.

On Tuesday morning, the league insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were signing veteran quarterback John Wolford to the team’s roster.

“The #Bucs have added to their QB room, signing former #Rams QB John Wolford. He joins Kyle Trask and Baker Mayfield in Tampa,” Rapoport said in a tweet.

While Wolford has been primarily a backup quarterback throughout his time in the league, he has appeared in seven regular-season games throughout his career, starting four of them. He also started a playoff game against the Seahawks following the 2020 season before leaving the game with a neck injury.

While it’s unlikely the Buccaneers brought him in for any other reason than to provide depth to the roster, his signing still got plenty of attention on social media.

It will certainly be interesting to see what the Buccaneers do at the quarterback position this year and whether or not that turns out to be a longterm solution.
