Woody Johnson has some explaining to do with New York Jets fans.

The team owner angered many fans Wednesday when he posted a photo of himself with pop icon Taylor Swift taken during Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Johnson, along with son Jack, visited the MetLife Stadium suite where Swift was on hand to watch Chiefs star Travis Kelce play. Swift and Kelce have been the talk of the NFL world recently with their relationship, and she’s attended his last two games.

Johnson posted a photo on X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday, captioned, “Yup you guessed it… we’re Swifties too.”

Johnson’s decision to post the photo struck many fans as a terrible idea, especially given the controversy that arose after the game. Jets All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner got flagged on a controversial holding penalty late in the game, and afterward, many fans questioned whether the NFL wanted the Chiefs to win, given Swift’s attendance.

The NFL didn’t help matters Monday when it posted on its Instagram account, “Chiefs are 2-0 as Swifties.”

Even Gardner dove into the controversy, tweeting “Lmaoo maybe if I was a swiftie, the ref wouldn’t of threw the flag.” He quickly deleted the tweet.

Given all that, many fans thought Johnson should have kept the photo private.
