Not too long ago, Taylor Swift and her superstar boyfriend Travis Kelce seemed to be living at the absolute peak of fame and success. Fast forward to now, though, and things appear to have taken a sharp turn in the wrong direction.
Roughly two years ago, Swift was arguably the biggest artist on the planet. She was in the middle of her historic Eras Tour and had just made Grammy history by winning yet another Album of the Year award. At the same time, Kelce was fresh off winning his second straight Super Bowl, with his superstar girlfriend cheering him on from the stands.
Over the past several months, however, that momentum has stalled. Swift’s Eras Tour has officially wrapped up, bringing an end to what may go down as the defining achievement of her career. On top of that, she has been completely shut out at the last two Grammy Awards ceremonies. Last year, she walked away without a single win. This year, she didn’t receive a single nomination and isn’t even attending the show.
Kelce hasn’t had much better luck. Last year, he and the Chiefs were blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. Swift was there, but instead of celebrating another championship, she watched a lopsided loss while being booed loudly by the crowd and later mocked by United States President Donald Trump. This season brought more disappointment, as the Chiefs failed to make the playoffs altogether.
Needless to say, the tide seems to have turned against Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, and that shift is showing up in her popularity as well.
This month, the pop icon received some rough news when YouGov reported that her popularity has fallen to its lowest point since the company began tracking the data in 2020. Her current popularity rating sits at 46.7%, down from 55.4% at this time last year. Meanwhile, the percentage of people who view her unfavorably has climbed from 23.5% to 29.2% over that same span.
Making matters worse, the survey was conducted before unflattering text messages from the pop star surfaced amid the ongoing legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. That means her popularity and favorability numbers are almost certainly even lower than the data suggests.
The silver lining is that Swift remains just as famous as ever, with 97.6% of respondents saying they’ve at least heard of her. Still, she may have an uphill battle ahead if she hopes to win back some goodwill from the public.
