The Washington Commanders took the league by storm last season as rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels led the team all the way to the NFC Championship. A big part of Daniels’ success in his first season as a professional came on account of his connection with star wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
Unfortunately, McLaurin isn’t very happy with the organization, according to one prominent league insider.
“Sources: #Commanders All-Pro WR Terry McLaurin has made it clear to the team that he’s frustrated with the lack of progress on a long-term deal. As I previously reported, McLaurin unexpectedly left voluntary workouts after initially attending, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll report for mandatory minicamp. McLaurin is entering the final year of his contract. Talks have been minimal,” reported Jordan Schultz on Thursday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Whole organization is on the rise and he’s willing to risk it for his long term deal,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“OverTheCap has Washington $21M under the salary cap. Get this man signed — no excuses. One of the most underrated wide receivers in the NFL,” someone else added.
“He’d be a perfect fit in Pittsburgh – a guy that can run the underneath stuff too and gets open – more so than another big downfield guy tbh. But no way he ends up in Pittsburgh. Commanders will lock him down,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the sides can come to terms on a long-term deal before the season starts.
