Rex Ryan may be coaching in his final game with the Buffalo Bills when his team hosts the Cleveland Browns this weekend.

Change may be coming in Buffalo. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Buffalo Bills are planning to move on from head coach Rex Ryan and that the coach is aware that his days are numbered. While the Bills are planning to make a change at head coach, they are planning on retaining general manager Doug Whaley who will be given the task of finding a new head coach.

The Bills are 6-7 on the year and host the lowly Browns on Sunday. The Bills should realistically pick up a win, but it sounds like not even a win will save Ryan’s job. After years of mediocrity and failing to make the playoffs since 1999 (the longest drought in the NFL), the Bills are ready to move on. It’s unfair that all of that blame is coming down on the head coach and reportedly not on the man responsible for creating the roster, but such is life in the NFL.

As needed as some changes may be, it sounds extremely awkward that Ryan knows he’s going to be removed and yet is still leading the Bills this weekend. Why not go ahead and make the change if everyone already knows about it? What’s gained from waiting?
