NFL cornerback Terrion Arnold’s offseason has been largely defined by his legal troubles, which stem from his alleged role in a kidnapping in Florida. Arnold is set to face trial for three armed robbery charges, three kidnapping charges, and two conspiracy charges.
If convicted, the cornerback could receive a life sentence in prison. Arnold received some positive news on Monday, when his lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, secured his release on bond in the Florida criminal case as trial looms.

The ruling means that Arnold has a path toward participating in training camp with the Detroit Lions and potentially playing in the regular season. However, the young defensive back’s future was dealt a crushing blow, per ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Arnold’s release garnered no shortage of reactions from those around the league.

Ari Meirov reported on what may have changed in the Lions’ building.
“Lions HC Dan Campbell said in April that the team did not believe Terrion Arnold was involved in the incident and that, as far as they knew, ‘it’s not a big deal.’ The organization also said it thoroughly questioned Arnold about the situation and believed he was not involved,” Meirov reported.
“Today, that stance changed, and Arnold has been released.”
