When healthy, Green Bay Packers superstar Micah Parsons is one of the NFL’s most dominant defensive players. Unfortunately for Green Bay, though, Parsons has not been healthy this season, and it now appears that his return from injury is still several weeks away.
Parsons was ruled out for the first four games of the season after the Packers placed him on the physically unable to perform list before the season began. Now, however, it appears that he will miss even more time.
Parsons Injury
Parsons suffered a torn ACL in Week 15 of the 2025 season and has been working toward a return ever since.
As the 2026 season approached, the Packers placed Parsons on the team’s physically unable to return list, guaranteeing that he would miss at least the first four games of the season.
Based on that initial timeline, Parsons is nearing the point where he can return to the active roster, and there had been some optimism that he might be ready to rejoin the team shortly after becoming eligible — potentially as soon as next week.
“We have a pretty good idea, once we get out of that four-game window, that we’re going to be pretty close. As you guys have heard me say, I’m going to be pretty cautious with that. We’ve got a big investment there. It’s really important to what we’re trying to do. To accomplish the goals we want to late in the year, he’s going to need to be at his best,” Packers General ManagerBrian Gutekunst said back on Sept. 1, via Matt Schneidmann of The Athletic.
However, it now appears that Parsons will not be returning quite that soon.
Not Until November?
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero of The Ringer and Netflix, Parsons has not experienced any setbacks during his recovery. However, he is not yet ready to return, and it could potentially be November before he is able to play again.
“Packers star Micah Parsons hasn’t had any setbacks in his rehab. But he’s not expected to practice next week, and it could be November before he’s ready for game action,” Pelissero wrote in a post on X.
That is obviously less than ideal for the Packers, who have opened the season with a 1-2 record and currently sit at the bottom of the NFC North.
‘Less than encouraging’
Needless to say, this update led to a lot of reactions on social media.
“The Cowboys visit Lambeau two weeks from Sunday, October 18th, and it seems that maybe Micah might not play then. We will see,” wrote RJ Ochoa of Blogging The Boys.
“This seems … less than encouraging. But the way Micah has talked about his recovery process and timeline, this always felt like a possibility. In no way did he ever commit to 10/18 vs. Dallas,” wrote Jason Wilde of ESPN Wisconsin.
“Packers have a Thursday game Oct. 29th in Week 8. This could be Week 9 target. Very different from the optimism Brian Gutekunst and Parsons himself expressed in training camp,” wrote Peter Bukowski of Locked on Packers.
“Parsons’ knee injury ruined last season and could help ruin this season,” wrote longtime Green Bay Packers writer Michael Rodney.
“Packers fans were in complete disbelief when I said week 6 is the soonest we could expect to see Micah Parsons back. Now it appears that might be too early. What’s more, is if the Packers continue to stink, why activate him off IR anyway? Their season is toast,” wrote Erik Duerrwaechter of Windy City Gridiron.
We’ll have to see when Parsons is able to return to the field.
