People’s fascination with anything and everything Timothy Richard Tebow is, in itself, fascinating.

Often it’s not Tebow’s fault that the media hurries to write about any move he makes. But with his latest decision to announce he’s exploring baseball, he seems to be more openly self-promoting than normal, even for him.

The evidence? He’s already signing bats and balls, and doing so at a hefty price.

According to Darren Rovell, folks looking for Tebow baseball memorabilia are forking over $175 for signed bats and $125 for signed balls:

Seriously, some people can’t get enough of the former Heisman Trophy and national championship winning quarterback. (Many of them work at ESPN.)

Just how out of whack are the prices people are paying? According to Sporting News:

A quick check on eBay Sunday afternoon showed a bat signed by Willie Mays available for $169.99, and a bat from fellow Hall of Famer Hank Aaron going for $189.99.

That’s right, Tebow’s signed bat is worth more than Willie Mays and nearly as much as one of the greatest home run hitters of all-time. Let that sink in for a minute or two.

Just imagine what will happen to the jerseys or hats Tebow wears when/if he actually makes an impression on some major league baseball team.
