A pair of Tennessee Titans have been sued for allegedly assaulting a man at a Nashville bar as a result of a heated conversation about the 2017 NFL Draft.
Tension reportedly and allegedly boiled over shortly after the Titans drafted wide receiver Corey Davis, one of the top wide receivers in the NFL Draft out of Western Michigan. Dante Satterfield supposedly made a comment about current Titans receiver Tajae Sharpe likely to receive less playing time in favor of the newly-acquired Davis. It became clear Sharpe, who was there, was not happy about the draft selection of the Titans. As the night went on, Satterfield claimed he was asked to follow Sharpe and Titans offensive guard Sebastian Tretola outside of the bar, at which time the two Titans players allegedly assaulted him.
According to a report from FOX 17 in Nashville, Satterfield claims Sharpe punched him in the face until he was knocked unconscious by Sharpe. Tretola was the lookout for Sharpe. Satterfield claims he suffered a concussion, broken bones in the face, massive facial bruising, a perforated eardrum and more, per the report. Satterfield is suing for $500,000 in damages against both Tians players.
“The claims are false and ridiculous,” Blaine Roche, Sharpe’s agent, said in a statement. “Unfortunately this is a classic shakedown attempt. Tajae categorically denies any involvement whatsoever and looks forward to vindicating his name and focusing on what matters most – football.”
The Titans are aware of the situation and are monitoring the situation. We’ll see how the legal process plays out, but in the meantime, we can look forward to seeing how Sharpe manages to hold on to playing time as the top wide receiver in the 2017 NFL Class comes in to catch passes from Marcus Mariota.
