The Tennessee Titans received a significant amount of flack at the time for trading All-Pro wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022. But now that the biggest piece of this trade that went to the Titans, Treylon Burks, has officially been released by the Titans, the trade looks worse than ever before.

The trade, which took place during the 2022 NFL Draft, was a pivotal moment in the history of both the Titans and the Eagles for completely opposite reasons.

In totality, the Titans went on to select Burks, Roger McCreary, Nicolas Petit-Frere, and Kyle Phillips in return from the Eagles for Brown, which ESPN’s Adam Schefter pointed out in a post on X.

Of the players the Titans received in the trade, McCreary, who is a serviceable but rather unexceptional cornerback for the Titans, is the only player still on the Titans roster.

Meanwhile, A.J. Brown has obviously been a superstar-caliber wide receiver for the Eagles, who played a massive role in the team’s Super Bowl championship this past season.

Obviously, now that Burks is no longer on the Titans after being cut on Monday, there are naturally a ton of NFL fans who are looking back on the trade with the Eagles and questioning what in the world the Titans organization was thinking.

If there is one bright spot for the Titans entering the 2025 season, maybe rookie quarterback Cam Ward will bring new hope for the organization in 2025. Because as you can see based on how brutal this trade ended up turning out, the Titans fanbase is certainly in need of some hope…
