The Tennessee Titans decided to list rookie quarterback Will Levis as inactive for Week 1. Levis won’t dress for the Titans season opener against the New Orleans Saints, the team announced on Sunday morning. As a result, second-year quarterback Malik Willis will be the backup for veteran Ryan Tannehill.
“Will Levis is inactive, so Malik Willis — who had a really nice camp — is the No. 2 QB,” Ian Rapoport of NFL Network posted.

This decision isn’t too surprising, as while the Titans have drafted quarterbacks in the last two seasons, Tannehill hasn’t done enough to sufficiently lose the job yet. Or really be challenged, as the battle between Willis and Levis resulted in the former Liberty quarterback getting the nod in Week 1. The former Kentucky Wildcats star will simply have to wait his turn to dress.
Other rookie quarterbacks will be making their debuts for their teams on Sunday. Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, and C.J. Stroud will all dress and start for the Carolina Panthers, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Houston Texans. All eyes will have to wait to see what Levis can bring to the table. He was initially thought very highly of, especially by ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr., But he had to wait until the first pick of the second round to hear his name get called. Unfortunately, the waiting games continue.
