The Tennessee Titans selected quarterback Cam Ward with the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft this year. However, the incumbent stater, Will Levis, is still on the Titans’ roster, leading to some uncertainty as to who would open the season as the starter under center.

However, a massive development has cleared the way for Ward to make his NFL debut in Week One and take the reins to the franchise, according to one prominent league insider.

“Titans QB Will Levis will be undergoing season-ending surgery on the right shoulder injury he sustained early last year before further aggravating it later in the season. Levis has been unable to shake the discomfort and his shoulder still is bothering him.

“Levis is, in the words of a source, ‘dedicated to return to be able to compete at the highest level possible,'” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Monday.

Schefter then followed up on his initial report.

“With Will Levis out for the year, No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward is now poised to become the Titans’ starting quarterback, despite the fact that the team has not named him its starter.

“The Titans other backup QBs are veterans Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle. Ward now shapes up as the Week 1 starter at Denver.”

It’s a brutal development for the Titans, as they may now have to throw Ward into the fire before he is fully prepared for play at the professional level.
