The Pittsburgh Steelers still have some major questionmarks surrounding their upcoming season. The most glaring one is at the quarterback position, where Mason Rudolph appears to have the inside track at the starting job.
However, rumors linking Aaron Rodgers to the organization have persisted throughout the offseason.
The uncertainty surrounding Rodgers isn’t the only question mark the Steelers have around a star player at the moment, either. Star pass rusher T.J. Watt has made his displeasure known about his lack of a contract extension heading into the offseason.
Fortunately for the Steelers, there appears to be some shockingly good news en route on the Watt front.
“The Steelers have been discussing a new contract with outside linebacker T.J. Watt with the expectation they will come to some agreement with the four-time All-Pro and former NFL Defensive Player of the Year before the start of the regular season,” reported the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Steelers need to offer him an unorthodox contract, pursuant to his value output. He’s like Halloween decorations, vibrant in Sept/Oct but boxed up until next season after Nov 1,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“B4 the start of the season? Is ‘ol Art Rooney hanging out w/the Jones fam? Y wait & have him miss camp? Y make the Cowboys delay Micah’s contract even further bc Watt’s isnt done & theyll want the “headline” & to dominate the news cycle for a couple days,” one fan added.
“I think they will regret this half way through if it is a long term deal,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see how long the uncertainty hovers over the Steelers organization.
