The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking for a new quarterback this offseason after the retirement of the legendary Tom Brady, who led them to a Super Bowl title and even set a passing record as recently as last season. And it sounds like the team is committed to giving both Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask a fair chance to win the job.

During a press conference this week, Todd Bowles made it clear that the team will be constantly evaluating the quarterback play until they name a starter closer to the start of the season.

“It’s the grasp of the offense, it’s the reading of the defense,” Bowles said according to Pro Football Talk. “It’s not necessarily making the big play, but the right play. Then it comes down to moxie, it comes down to intelligence. In-game intelligence and adjustments and fits and film work. You can see who the team galvanizes around and who’s ready to play the first game and you kinda make a decision from there. It’s constant analyzation. Whether it’s small or whether it’s big, it’s constant analysis from now up until we name a starter.”

Whoever it is will obviously have big shoes to fill after the departure of Brady.
