tom brady

For more than a year, the word “Deflategate” would boil the blood of any Patriots fan or, presumably, player. The entire region of New England basically treated the question of whether Tom Brady deflated some footballs as one of life and death or at least national emergency.

Then Brady served a four-game suspension and the Patriots went 3-1 anyway, and now New England is cruising back to the playoffs, with Brady contending for MVP. So apparently we’re all allowed to laugh. Ha ha.

In a Foot Locker commercial released Wednesday morning, Brady pokes fun at Deflategate by comparing the Patriots’ success to the shoe company’s “Week of Greatness.”

“Just because something is great year after year doesn’t mean anything is going on,” Brady says. “Why can’t some things just be great? It starts with questions, and then questions turn into assumptions, and then assumptions turn into vacations. So why would you punish the Week of Greatness for something that never even happened?’

Glad we’re all laughing about this now.
