Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski shocked the NFL world on Tuesday when he announced his retirement after 11 years in the NFL.

This comes after months of speculation this offseason as to what he would end up doing for next season. Many thought that he may have one more year left in him to play at a high level, considering that he posted 55 receptions for 802 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games last year.

This is not the first time that Gronkowski has announced his retirement from the NFL.

He did so in 2019 after playing his whole career to that point with the New England Patriots , then later joined Tom Brady in Tampa after a year-long absence from the NFL.

Since Gronkowski has unretired in the past, there has been much speculation regarding whether he may return to the NFL at some point. And his agent’s comments have only added to that. Drew Rosenhaus, Gronkowski’s agent, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that it would not surprise him if Tom Brady calls Gronkowski at some point next season to come back, and Gronkowski agrees to do so.

Brady then responded to this on social media on Tuesday, with a picture of a man on his cell phone, possibly hinting that this rumor from Rosenhaus could have some merit.

Brady has been known to troll on social media during his tenure with the Buccaneers, so it’s unclear whether or not he is actually campaigning for Gronkowski to come back at some point next season.

That being said, given how close the relationship between Gronkowski and Brady appears to be, it is strange that we haven’t seen any social media posts from Brady towards Gronkowski on his retirement.

It could be purely speculation, but it looks like there is at least a possibility that Brady may be able to lure Gronkowski out of retirement one more time.
