There was plenty of speculation when legendary quarterback Tom Brady took a mysterious leave of absence from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but none was wilder than the Reddit theory that Brady was actually a contestant on the Fox television show The Masked Singer. Brady shot the rumor down on Monday, but a new video has given the theory new life.
In a video leaked by TMZ Sports, one of the show’s judges, Ken Jeong, guesses that Brady is one of the contestants under the mask.
Though he initially thought fellow NFL legend Peyton Manning might be under the mask, saying the secret singer’s performance was “screaming out like a football legend,” Jeong eventually guessed that Brady was the hidden contestant, saying “I think this could be the greatest of all time.”
As part of his guess, Jeong even referenced Brady’s absence from Tampa Bay’s training camp.
“He just got fined for not showing up to training camp because he is here on The Masked Singer,” Jeong said. “This is seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady!”
We’ll have to wait until the season begins on Sept. 21 to learn the truth, but it certainly looks like there’s a real possibility Brady was on the show, after all.
