Tom Brady’s retirement from the NFL following the 2021-22 NFL season was quite brief before he ultimately unretired a few months later, but it was long enough to cause a little chaos in one particular auction house.

Shortly after Brady announced his retirement from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the ball from his “final” touchdown pass sold at auction for a massive sum of $518,000. Obviously, the ball’s value took a significant hit when Brady unretired the very next day, leaving the buyer “genuinely mortified,” according to The Action Network.

Thankfully for the buyer, the seller and the auction house allowed him to void the sale. But now, the ball is back on the auction block yet again with a starting bid of $25,000 – a hefty price, but significantly less than the ball fetched last time.

“Though the perspective has changed, this remains a magnificent piece nonetheless,” the Lelands listing reads “For 40 days, this stood as one of the most significant game used footballs in history.”

And while this probably won’t go down as Brady’s final touchdown ball, the listing notes that there’s still at least a small chance that it does.

“It is worth noting, however, that at this point in time, TB12 has not yet returned to the gridiron, and should things change between now and the start of the season, this could, in fact, still be Brady’s final touchdown ball,” the listing states.
