NFL world reacts as Tom Brady returning to play quarterback

Tom Brady won seven Super Bowl rings as the starting quarterback for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a feat we may never see accomplished again. Brady’s legendary career was broken up by a brief retirement.

However, since his second retirment, Brady has refrained from returning to the gridiron, at least as a player. He still remains a fixture around the league, not only as a minority owner for the Las Vegas Raiders, but as an analyst for FOX.

Shockingly, that’s all set to change, with Brady finally set to return to the field as a competitor, according to one prominent insider.

“Tom Brady is coming out of retirement, sort of, to join Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, CeeDee Lamb, Maxx Crosby, Rob Gronkowski, Sauce Gardner Myles Garrett and others for the Fanatics Flag Football Classic – a competitive flag football tournament taking place during Riyadh Season in Saudi Arabia on March 21, 2026. It will be Brady’s first football action since retiring three years ago. Pete Carroll, Sean Payton and Kyle Shanahan will be coaching the three teams,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Twitter on Monday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Listen, I love football, but who even asked for this? A flag football tournament in Saudi Arabia for oil oligarchs?” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“I’m convinced there are athletes who don’t have actual CTE or anything (Brady, Jordan, LeBron, Favre, etc) But they’re just so obsessed with competing that their respective sports call on them like the Green Goblin Mask,” someone else wrote.

“Big Oil is doing it exactly how I’d do it. Spend a metric ton of cash to watch a pack of goats play flag football in your front yard,” one fan added.
