The Kansas City Chiefs lost the Super Bowl last year to the Philadelphia Eagles in embarrassing fashion. Kansas City is hoping to get back to the top of the mountain this season. Unfortunately, the Chiefs lost their season opener to their divisional rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers/.
To rub salt in the wound, one of the Chiefs’ most lethal receiving threats, Xavier Worthy, was injured in a game after colliding with tight end Travis Kelce. Shockingly, Kelce is owning up to getting Worthy hurt and taking complete culpability.
“I’m supposed to be running my route at depth for Worthy … I just gotta be better, man. I’m 13 years in the league. There’s no excuse for me running into my own guys like that,” Kelce said, according to Underdog NFL.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Travis saw his soon to be wife talking up Worthy and decided to take him out,” one fan joked on Twitter.
“I tried telling y’all he can’t run a proper route. He’s washed but the fandom didn’t wanna hear it,” one fan added.
“And Pat Mahomes ended Rashee Rice’s season last year. This Chiefs-on-Chiefs crime is getting out of hand,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Chiefs respond after such a disappointing start to the season.
