When the Jacksonville Jaguars selected former Clemson Tigers star quarterback Trevor Lawerence with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, most around the league assumed that he was destined to be a star quarterback in the league. But in his second NFL season, that’s not exactly what has happened.

Through the first 25 games of his NFL career, Trevor Lawrence has not exactly lit the world on fire, posting just a 5-20 career record. While some of the blame for those struggles can certainly be placed on the Jacksonville Jaguars as a team, that doesn’t mean Lawerence hasn’t been historically bad for a No. 1 overall pick.

According to a stat shared by CBS Sports HQ, Lawrence’s start isn’t just bad, it’s the worst in the Common Draft Era.

“Trevor Lawrence: 5-20 career record. That’s the worst among QBs drafted No. 1 overall through 25 career starts in Common Draft Era,” CBS Sports HQ said in a Tweet on Sunday afternoon.

It’s quite a shocking stat, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

While wins and losses may not be a perfect way to evaluate a quarterback’s success, it’s still clear that the Jaguars are not where they want to be with Lawrence at the helm.
