The Cincinnati Bengals have last season’s sack leader in the NFL on their roster. However, that doesn’t meant that he’ll be making an appearance for the Bengals this season.
The Bengals secured both of their talented receivers, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to massive contract extensions earlier this offseason. Hendrickson, on the other hand, was told that he could seek out a new home via the trade market.
Things seemed to take a positive turn with reports that the sides were working on an extension together again, but now it appears as if talks between the sides are as bad as they’ve ever been, if not worse.
“We’ve tried to keep it as least amount as personal as possible, but at some point in this process it’s becomes personal,” Hendrickson said, according to ESPN.
“Being sent 30 days before mandatory camp, or how many ever days it is, that if I don’t show up I will be fined alludes to the fact that something won’t get done in that time frame.”
Hendrickson said that in the past week, negotiations started to get personal between his camp and the organization.
“And when there’s a lack of communication in any relationship, if it’s business or personal relationship, lack of communication leads to animosity, and that leaves my narrative only to me with no clear direction,” Hendrickson said.
It’ll be interesting to see if the sides can work something out before Week One arrives.
