The NFL is the most brutal league in the world. Players’ careers can end on a whim.

Former New York Jets running back Ty Johnson found that out the hard way in April when the second franchise to release him since 2019.

Speaking on an Instagram Live segment he called “Ice Barrell Talk of the Day,” Johnson revealed that he tore his pectoral muscle while working out during the offseason.

He then said the Jets cut him after he got the surgery their doctor wanted him to get.

“I’ve had some dark, dark days, man,” Johnson said in the video, per the New York Post.

“Saw the team doctor, he was like, ‘You need to get it fixed,'”Johnson said. “Flew out the next day. Came back happy that I got it done, even though I didn’t want to get it done. That following Wednesday, you out of there.

“And I was like, [‘Darn.’] But at the end of the day, man, I know I’m gonna be alright.”

Johnson signed with Jets off waivers from the Detroit Lions in 2020. According to The Post, he recorded 145 rushes for 652 yards and for touchdowns in two-plus seasons with the Jets.

He also added 62 passes for 559 yards and three touchdowns.
