The NFL draft is just over a week away, and the buzz is increasing around this year’s crop of prospects. Former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward has been viewed as the best quarterback in the class and has been all but guaranteed to go to the Tennessee Titans with the number one overall pick.
After Ward, Shedeur Sanders has been widely viewed as the second-best quarterback in the class. However, some brutal news has broken for Sanders that may mean he is going to slide further in the draft than most anticipated.
“I spoke to a GM who I really trust and who is really good.. He told me that the best pure thrower of the football in this draft is Tyler Shough,” ESPN’s Peter Schrager on an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
Fans reacted to the news that Shedeur’s status at the top of the class isn’t as secure as many thought on social media.
“If you told me Shough would be getting this kind of media treatment while he was playing at Oregon, I would’ve laughed in your face for hours I still can’t believe this lol,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“They gotta stop with this these people hyping up tyler shough don’t need a qb and would never put they job on the line to draft him with their first pick,” another fan added.
“Zach Wilson also was the best thrower of the football I have seen in a decade. Relax yall. There’s too many factors that go into becoming a great nfl QB. Being a great thrower isn’t top of the list….lmao,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see where Shough and Sanders get drafted.
