The public is getting a better insight into why NFL Hall of Fame running back Terrell Davis is filing a lawsuit against United Airlines.
As it was reported, Davis was kicked off a flight after an altercation with a flight attendant who accused the star of pushing him.
The investigation cleared Davis of any wrongdoing, and the flight attendant in question was later fired.
But the story doesn’t end there. The airline also accidentally banned Davis from flying with them again, sending him a letter.
The L.A. Times got in touch with the airline to ask about this latest allegation and they sent a statement explaining what happened.
“Mr. Davis received this letter the day after the incident,” the airline said via the LA Times. “It was generated due to the report of the flight attendant — who is no longer employed by United. The day after the letter was sent, we discussed with Mr. Davis’ team that it had been rescinded. We have apologized to Mr. Davis for his experience and continue to review our handling of incidents like this to protect our highest priority — the safety of our customers and crew.”
However, according to Davis’ lawyers, the letter was not rescinded until he posted about it on social media.
“Up until today, we had received no correspondence or communication indicating that the travel ban had been rescinded,” the firm said, adding, “Mr. Davis did not see the initial correspondence until recently, and we have released the email because of the lack of response from United across the board. We can confirm we had received no rescinding of this ban until today, just moments ago, and only after Mr. Davis posted his statement.”
All of this may explain why Davis decided to go ahead and pursue a lawsuit against the airline.
