Andrew Vorhees

Former USC Trojans star Andrew Vorhees wants teams to know he’s on track for a full recovery from recent ACL surgery.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Vorhees shared that news in a letter to all 32 teams Friday.

The first-team All-American had been projected as an early round selection in the NFL Draft. Unfortunately, he became a hard-luck story at the NFL Scouting Combine when he tore his ACL in a drill.

Showing his perseverance — not to mention his strength — Vorhees did the bench press portion of the combine despite the injury, pumping out an incredible 38 reps of 225 pounds. That scores in the 98th percentile among NFL guards.

After undergoing reconstructive surgery by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in late March, Vorhees has been rehabbing.

“Based on his surgical result and early recovery I anticipate return to play without restrictions,” ElAttrache wrote in the letter.

That’s good news from ElAttrache. But it remains to be seen where Vorhees will fall in the draft. A possible second-round pick before, the fact he will likely miss all of the 2023 season will scare off many teams.

However, some teams might be enticed to grab the 6-foot-6, 310 pound guard. For example, the Dallas Cowboys have a long history of finding bargains by drafting injured players.

One NFL scout told NFL.com about Vorhees, “Rock solid. Same guy, game in and game out. He’s not going to be a Pro Bowler but he will get the job done.”

Now that Vorhees has a doctor’s note, his NFL future awaits.
