The Minnesota Vikings are undergoing a massive transition this offseason. The Vikings’ starting quarterback from a year ago, Sam Darnold, who had a resurgent season in Minnesota, is now with the Seattle Seahawks, paving the way for J.J. McCarthy to ascend to the starting role.

Darnold is not the only major piece the Vikings will have to adjust to being without either, as one standout the team drafted is walking away from the game, according to one prominent league insider.

“4x Pro Bowl OLB Anthony Barr is retiring after 10 NFL seasons. The former top-10 pick of the #Vikings started 108 games during his outstanding career,” reported Jordan Schultz on Tuesday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“4-5 year stint as the undisputed goat user in madden. enjoy retirement king,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Anthony Barr was such a good LB for the Vikings. Him and Eric Kendricks were key cogs in the ELITE defense in Minnesota for the 2018 season. Sign for a day to retire as a Viking. Thank you,” someone else added.

“He agreed to sign with the jets until he realized he’d play Josh Allen twice a year and went back to the Vikings,” another fan wrote.

Hopefully, Barr enjoys his retirement knowing he had an outstanding NFL career.
