The Minnesota Vikings have not had the same success at the quarterback position that they did a season ago with Sam Darnold helming the offense. Darnold is now with the Seahawks, where he is having another strong season, and the Vikings have tried to get the J.J. McCarthy era started.

Unfortunately, McCarthy has only appeared in two games due to a high ankle sprain. Since Week Three, veteran Carson Wentz has been the starting quarterback for Minnesota, but his season is now over, according to one prominent league insider.

Vikings QB Carson Wentz will undergo surgery on his left shoulder and miss the rest of the 2025 season, sources tell The Insiders. Wentz gutted it out as long as he could. But he was in severe pain Thursday night in L.A. and now will get the shoulder fixed,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on Monday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Lmfao and Kirk Herbstreit was chirping him, really not Kirk’s finest hour, I think he owes dude an apology fr,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“He has many faults, but his grit and never quit mentality is something that he should be recognized for,” someone else added.

“He’s a good dude and left it all out there,” one fan acknoweldged.

Hopefully, Wentz will make a full recovery and can return to the field next season.
