The Minnesota Vikings have not had the kind of season they were expecting after last season’s success. Sam Darnold, who had a resurgent year in Minnesota a season ago, is now lighting it up for the Seattle Seahawks.

The Vikings are looking to develop J.J. McCarthy into their new franchise quarterback. Unfortunately, he’s missed the majority of the season due to injury. However, the young signal caller is sending a clear message about where he’s at.

“J.J. McCarthy took all of the first-team reps in practice Wednesday for the first time since suffering a high right ankle sprain Sept. 14, saying afterward that the ankle feels “amazing” as he approaches Sunday’s game at Detroit,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Fans reacted to McCarthy’s message on social media.

“If he’s rushing back just to prove a point, Detroit’s pass rush gonna make that ankle regret it,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Justin Jefferson’s only TD on the season was thrown by J.J. McCarthy. Also, McCarthy will have Jordan Addison to throw to as well. He didn’t have both the first two weeks he started. Regardless, the offensive line is an issue. So it’s probably going to be a lot of ups and downs,” someone else added.

“I have endless amounts of receipts ready to go when JJ looks like a great QB again as he did in the 4th quarter of his NFL debut,” one fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see how McCarthy looks on Sunday.
