The Minnesota Vikings released former first-round Jalen Reagor on Wednesday. Minnesota acquired the former TCU standout last season in exchange for a 2023 seventh-round pick, as well as a 2024 conditional fourth-round pick, but after just one season with the Vikings, Reagor’s career must look elsewhere for a jumpstart.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Wednesday that the Vikings would be waving the 24-year-old Reagor.
Vikings are waiving former first-round draft pick Jalen Reagor, per source.

While Reagor has had a respectable NFL career thus far, starting 24 games through three seasons with the Vikings and Eagles and totaling 72 catches for 799 yards and four touchdowns, he’ll forever be remembered for the player he is not. Philadelphia inexplicably selected Reagor with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
A pick later, the Vikings selected Justin Jefferson, who has blossomed into one of the most dominant receivers in the NFL. Through just two seasons, Jefferson has 196 catches for 3,016 yards and 17 touchdowns and has been named to the Pro Bowl in both of his seasons.
In his lone season in Minnesota, Reagor played in 17 games (0 starts) and hauled in eight receptions for 104 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
With that, the decision to waive him wasn’t met with a lot of surprise. But while Reagor’s career hasn’t gone smoothly, several in the NFL world took to Twitter to react to Wednesday’s news.
Drafting is such an in exact science. I can promise you that a large number of evaluators thought Reagor was going to be a better prospect that Jefferson heading into the 2020 draft https://t.co/ITwkEtYHpO

The Jalen Reagor trade has outlasted the Jalen Reagor Vikings era https://t.co/7R24pw6YNa

Vikings hoping someone claims him so they’re not on the hook for his $2.42M guaranteed salary.
Eagles should presumably now be locked into a 5th round pick in 2024 Draft from Minnesota https://t.co/9ZTk8yEE5l

Honestly, I wasn't counting on him making the initial 53-man roster. Presumably, the Vikings were waiting to see if a deal materialized. His $2.4M base salary is fully guaranteed. https://t.co/pW4th1pFYK

In the end, you hope this isn’t the end of the line. Jalen Reagor has been a pretty solid contributor in the past, and hopefully, he can find a home and return to form.
