When it comes to superheroes, little stops in the way of Superman. We’ll get a glimpse at how he fares against Batfleck later this year of course, but it is pretty common knowledge what Superman’s ultimate weakness is; kryptonite.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has taken on a bit of a Superman alter ego on the field with his Superman celebration pose and foot apparel sporting Superman’s logo. But Newton wasn’t Superman this past Sunday as he was thoroughly dominated by the Panthers defense and specifically Von Miller who earned the MVP with his efforts.

Fresh off that MVP performance in the Super Bowl, Adidas has decided to capitalize on Miller’s triumphs over Superman by unveiling these kryptonite cleats as part of a larger marketing announcement for Miller as the new face of Adidas new Freak line.

One wonders if Adidas had these ready to go in case Miller or any other Adidas affiliated Bronco had a big game against Newton and the Panthers. Miller sacked Carolina’s Superman twice and forced a pair of fumbles, one that led to a defensive touchdown following a controversial instant replay ruling and the other helping to put the game on ice (feel free to insert your own Fortress of Solitude joke here if you wish), so the feisty marketing initiative works quite well.

Miller is now a free agent (although likely to return with Denver) so their is a possibility these shoes and Miller could somehow end up in the same division with the Panthers thus giving us many matchups between the two larger than life stars.
